Den Meeting 10-10-11

Continuing with our Introduction to Tools, our Scouts made their own toolboxes tonight.  Each Scout had a kit and was required to read and follow the directions in order to assemble the pieces.  Everyone did a GREAT JOB! We are very proud of our Bears!

For the second half of the meeting, we had all of the Bears work together to assemble a bean-bag-toss game.  All of our Scouts showed great teamwork and constructed a new game for our Den.

Special Thanks to all the Parents in assisting our Scouts.

Please remember to have your Scouts work in their Handbook to complete the necessary Achievements.  We are doing some of these at the meetings, but cannot cover them all.  I hope to have an advancement chart posted online real soon so you can see what achievements have been completed.

Popcorn orders are due Monday.  Please have them ready to turn in.

Law Enforcement Night 08-17-11

We are pleased to welcome members of the Henry County Law Enforcement Community to our Den Meetings on Monday, October 17, 2011.

Den Meeting 08-03-11

Theme :"Law Enforcement is a Big Job"

In this Den Meeting, we discussed the role of police officers as well as the role of witnesses.
The Cub Scouts participated in a role-play game where they had to solve a fictitional crime using
fingerprints and the questioning of witnesses.
We also made a sheet of our own fingerprints.
Please have your Cub Scout complete Achievement 7c, 7d, 7e from their handbooks.  It is also available for download using the link below.

For the second half of our meeting, we learned how to use tools.  We used a hammer and screwdriver to put nails and screws into the provided wood blocks.  This was an important learning experience because we will utilize these skills at the next Den Meeting when each Cub Scout will build their own toolbox.

If your Cub Scout has not completed the requirements for the Bobcat Badge, please work with them to do so.  They must complete these requirements before they can work toward the Bear Badge.  The requirements can be found in the front of the Bear Handbook.
